I think I've never been this busy during any of my previous Decembers! Lots and lots of slots to play, not forgetting exams! How the heck am I going to play You Are Good at 158bpm according to Mr. Kan's musical beeper?
I practice bass hard every day because I love playing music. But every now and then I remind myself to take a little break because I don't want to practice so hard that I start feeling jaded - the next thing I'll know is that I hate bass. I don't want that to happen. I want to love what I'm doing for a long time yet! While on the topic of bass, my new 4 inch thick strap has just been delivered to me via Yunkai. Premium leather man. Need to break it in, it's pretty stiff still, but it's a little shorter than my previous strap - makes for better positioning from a technical viewpoint, at a slight aesthetic expense. Though I'm so small-sized that there's no way I can manage wearing it like a brassiere (just take a gander at all those plus-sized pro bassists getting strangled by their instruments out there!) despite adjusting it to its shortest length!
You know, it's actually happening, this jamming room thing. I was a little bit afraid that it wasn't going to work, that it'd be a white elephant, but there've actually been uses for it. And I'm just glad that my love for music can save Y-Hope a few bucks. I'd like to be able to use it for recording too, and that means more money 'cos good recording equipment is never cheap. Rayson does not succumb to the lure of cheap stuff. It makes sense to get good quality equipment right from the outset, you know... I need a Rode NT-1A condenser mic, an M-Audio ProFire 610, Pro Tools 9, and a StarTech Firewire ExpressCard. Not to mention a RAM upgrade. And that'll set me back a pretty penny... Acoustic foam is another bugbear. Dang.
I think we need to start writing songs to support our seasons. Naturally, they need to be of a certain quality first, and I have to say we're far more equipped than ever before to manage it! Yet cutting an album... You know what? That's the furthest thing ever from my mind now. It seems such a long time ago that I used to think it was a "cool" thing to do. Thank God for Hillsong Conference. It really broadened my horizons with regard, at the very least, to this topic.
Adios now, time for a shower and bed, which at the same time, means facing the possiblity of meeting the nymph I saw last night in the bathroom... ^^"
